Dorothy Olive Volstad (nee Tovell) passed away Friday March 22 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre at the age of 105 years.

Dorothy was the adopted daughter of Errol & Martha Tovell of Mayton, a community 20 miles east of Olds, Alberta. In 1939 Dorothy went to Ponoka to work in the government hospital as an institutional aide. She came to Claresholm in 1941 to work in the Claresholm Mental Hospital. In 1943 she went to Vancouver to work in the Essondale Hospital. After one year she returned to Claresholm and worked again at the Claresholm Mental Hospital. In June of 1948 she married

Ferd Volstad of Claresholm. Dorothy continued working at the Care Centre until taking retirement in 1977.

Dorothy loved going camping and driving. She made many trips driving people to doctor appointments in the city. Dorothy was an active member of the Claresholm Pentecostal Assembly.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband Ferd, her parents - Errol & Martha Tovell and her brother Frank. She is survived by her niece – Marion Bennett of Olds, Alberta, and by her nephew - Ken Tovell of Kelowna, B.C

A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00am, at Zentner Funeral Homes Claresholm, Alberta.
